Computations of Unsteady Viscous Compressible Flows Using Adaptive Mesh Refinement in Curvilinear Body-Fitted Grid Systems

چکیده
A methodology for accurate ana efficient simulation of unsteady, compressible flows is presented. The cornerstones of the methodology are a. special discretization of the N avier-Stokes equa.tions on structured bodyfitted grid systems and an efficient solution-adaptive mesh refinement technique for structured grids. The discretization employs an explicit multidimensional upwind scheme for the inviscid fluxes and an implicit treatment of the viscous terms. The mesh refinement technique is based on the AMR algorithm of Berger and Colella (J. Compo Phys., Vol. 82, pp. 6.4-84, 1989). In this approach, cells on each level of refinement are organized into a small number of topologica.lly rectangular blocks. each containing several thousand cells. The small number of blocks leads to small overhead in managing data... while their size and regular topology means that a high degree of optimization can be achieved on computers with vector processors.

An Adaptive Semi-Implicit Scheme for Simulations of Unsteady Viscous Compressible Flows
A numerical scheme for simulation of unsteady, viscous, compressible flows is considered. The scheme employs an explicit discretization of the inviscid terms of the N avier-Stokes equations and an implicit discretization of the viscous terms. The discretization is second order accurate in both space and time. Under appropriate assumptions, the implicit system of equations can be decoupled into ...
متن کاملA Multi-solver Scheme for Viscous Flows Using Adaptive Cartesian Grids and Meshless Grid Communication
This work concerns the development of an adaptive multi-solver approach for CFD simulation of viscous flows. Curvilinear grids are used near solid bodies to capture boundary layers, and stuctured adaptive Cartesian grids are used away from the body to fill the majority of the computational domain. An edge-based meshless scheme is used in the interface region to connnect the near-body and off-bo...
متن کاملSpectral difference method for compressible flow on unstructured grids with mixed elements
This paper presents the development of a 2D solver for inviscid and viscous compressible flows using the spectral difference (SD) method for unstructured grids with mixed elements. A mixed quadrilateral and triangular grid is first refined using one-level h-refinement to generate a quadrilateral grid while keeping the curvature of boundary edges. The SD method designed for quadrilateral meshes ...
متن کاملA ghost-cell immersed boundary method for inviscid compressible flows
An immersed boundary method (IBM) is presented, that can be applied to inviscid compressible flows, described by the full-potential or Euler equations, to start with. Possible applications that we envisage are preliminary aircraft design and rotor-flow computations. Although Navier-Stokes methods have improved significantly in the last three decades, and although computations with the latter eq...
متن کاملAn Adaptive Cartesian Grid Method for Unsteady Compressible Flow in Irregular Regions* RICHARD 13. PEMBER AND JOliN
In this paper we describe an adaptive Cartesian grid method for modeling time-dependent inviscid compressible flow in irregular regions, In this approach a body is treated as an interface embedded in a regular Cartesian mesh. The single grid algorithm uses an unsplit second-order Godunov algorithm followed by a corrector applied to celis at the boundary. The discretization near the fluidbody in...
